Lynnhaven Inlet Fishing Pier was Family Owned and Operated from 1956 to 2017. It is considered by long-time residents to have been a local landmark. The completely wooden sport fishing pier was located on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, in Virginia Beach, off Starfish Road. It was the longest all-wooden sport fishing pier on the East Coast, boasting approx.1480 ft. (1/4 mile) of lighted Pier for fishing, crabbing, and family enjoyment. The Pier provided a convenience store/tackle shop (including a full line of bait and tackle), benches, cleaning stations, and modern restroom facilities for your comfort. Lynnhaven Fishing Pier proudly served local residents, families, and tourists for 61 years.
After 61 years of operation, on 5 November 2017 at 8:00 PM EST, Lynnhaven Fishing Pier closed it's gates for the last time. After struggling with maintenance and repair costs since the damage from Hurricane Isabel in 2003, and subsequent damage from the November Nor'easter in 2009, and Hurricane Matthew in 2016, the decision was made to sell the property as costs would continue to climb, and new storms would always show up on the horizon.
Lynnhaven Fishing Pier wishes to Thank all of the Wonderful, Loyal Customers and all of the Wonderful, Loyal Employees that graced the Pier with their presence over the years. Everyone together is what gave the Pier it's life, and made the business not just a pier, but made Lynnhaven Fishing Pier a Community.
Former Owner, Barbara Cashman Duff said it best, "It's where our customers became part of our family."
